Breaking down the split jerk.

Breaking down the split jerk with Wards Gym Coach Jess New.
Building a strong foundation will give you the tools you need to continue to progress your lifts. So jump on an empty Barbell and get these steps right.
Foot work:
After the dip and drive throw your leading foot forward and your back foot back. We get our athletes to work on a 50cm width by 1m length in the catch position as a minimum.
Rack position and Overhead stability:
Grip the bar like you’re about to strict press it, this will help you engage more of your back muscles for the drive and catch position of the lift.
Once you’ve started to dial in your technique build up to weights you can comfortably throw around and when it comes time to hit a PR you’ll be prepared.
